Die Annahme eines neuen Aggregatzustands der Sonne würde zu einem Zusammenbruch der ganzen Astronomie führen.

Nun ist die vermeintliche Temperatur der Sonne offensichtlich nichts als die Temperatur der Sonnenstrahlen“ (Max Planck), er spricht hier über das kontinuierliche Spektrum, gänzlich abhängig von der Art der Strahlen, und daher eine Eigenschaft der Strahlen und nicht eine Eigenschaft der Sonne selbst. Deswegen wäre es nicht nur praktischer, sondern auch korrekter, diese Bezeichnung direkt anzuwenden, anstatt von einer fiktiven Temperatur der Sonne zu sprechen, welche durch die Einführung einer Vermutung Bedeutung verliehen wird, die der Wirklichkeit nicht standhält."
