Fritz Bauer (1903–1968) was a German jurist and politician who, as Attorney General of Hesse, was instrumental in prosecuting Nazi crimes. He was one of the initiators of the Frankfurt Auschwitz trials and consistently advocated for the legal reckoning with Germany's Nazi past.
